How it is calculated
Drawing size on paper = real size ÷ scale. A sheet fits when the paper size plus margins is within the sheet (either orientation). The largest scale that fits = real size ÷ usable sheet size, rounded to the next standard scale.

What are ISO A sheet sizes?
A0 841 × 1189 mm, A1 594 × 841, A2 420 × 594, A3 297 × 420, A4 210 × 297. Each is half the previous one.
