Large models can take a minute. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use the IFC Viewer
Open IFC2x3 and IFC4 models in your browser to review a design, check what is in a model or show it to a client, without installing Revit, ArchiCAD or a BIM viewer. The model is never uploaded.
- Drop an .ifc file onto the viewer, or click Open IFC.
- Browse the model tree by storey or by class, and click an element to see its properties.
- Use section planes or a section box, x-ray, isolate and hide to look inside.
- Measure distances, take a screenshot or switch to the Properties, Checks and Quantities tabs.
Worked example
Open an architect's IFC4 export, click Storeys to isolate Level 1, add a section box around the stair core, and measure the clear width of a corridor. Then switch to Checks to look for missing classifications before issuing the model.
Good to know
- Large models load in a web worker so the page stays responsive; very large files depend on your computer's memory.
- Search by name, class or GlobalId to find an element quickly.
- IFC files exported with quantities show areas and volumes in the Quantities tab.
Questions
Which IFC versions open?
IFC2x3 and IFC4 are supported and tested. IFC4x3 files often open too.
How large a model can I open?
It depends on your computer's memory. Models up to a few hundred MB open on a typical laptop; phones are best for small models.
Is my model uploaded?
No. The IFC file is read by a WebAssembly engine inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the model is cleared from memory when you close the page.
